Salone Hidden Gems was born from a profound discovery by our founder, Dori, and her husband, Stafford. Arriving in Sierra Leone in 2019 to manage Stafford Lodge in downtown Freetown, they quickly realized the city’s allure extended beyond business travelers. It attracted backpackers eager to explore beyond the urban sprawl.
Dori’s own journey of discovery, particularly after visiting Bunce Island, unveiled a rich history largely unknown. Driven to learn and share Sierra Leone’s wonders, she established Salone Hidden Gems Travel and Tours to showcase the other side of Sierra Leone: its pristine beaches, roaring waterfalls, lush rainforests, diverse culture, and friendly populace.
